Red Snapper Managed Services (UK) Ltd. – Public Data Privacy Notice
5 May 2019
What is personal data?
Personal data is information that can be used to identify an individual living person, either through use of a single or combination of data sets. You have the right of control over who uses your personal data, what it is used for, and what the legal basis for this processing is.
Who are we?
Red Snapper Managed Services (RSMS) Ltd. is a specialist service provider working with local authorities, environmental agencies, and police forces to deliver enforcement, investigation, and community safety services on their behalf. This service includes the detection of crimes and the issuing of Fixed Penalty Notices to the perpetrators of these offences.
How do we process your personal data?
If you are issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN) by one of our Enforcement Officers, we will require some personal details from you in order to verify your identity and issue you with a FPN on behalf of our client, the controller.
To ensure the accountability and fairness of RSMS’s service and the safety of its Enforcement Officers, our field team use body-worn cameras to record the process of issuing a ticket. The cameras only become active once an offence has been identified by an officer, and are terminated immediately once the FPN has been issued. All footage is stored in an encrypted state, on secure servers within the UK. Our retention periods as stated above are proportionate for the purpose of issuing the FPN and investigating any complaints.
What is the legal basis for processing your personal data?
RSMS collect and process your personal data under the legal basis of Lawful Obligation, as an agency that enforce UK laws. At the time of issuing a FPN, we may require you to provide additional information in order to be able to verify your identity; in such instances where we may require this additional verification, we will do so using the legitimate interest of being able to perform our services to a fair and accurate standard.
Sharing your personal data?
RSMS does not share your data with any third parties except for the purpose of providing the service of issuing a FPN. Any data processors instructed by us will be contractually obligated to the same responsibilities and accountabilities in terms of the privacy and security in processing your data.
Our data processors for the process of issuing and settling Fixed Penalty Notices are:
INKARA (Arepo Solutions Ltd): Ticket management system
TraceIQ (LexisNexis Risk Solutions): Identity verification
3GS UK Ltd: Processing of payments
B-Cam Ltd: Secure recording of visual and audio data
How long do we keep your personal data for?
We retain your data only for the purpose of issuing and settling a FPN. Once your FPN has been issued, some of your personal data is retained for up to 6 years for legal purposes. If your notice is challenged in the courts, we will retain your data until a final outcome is reached.
All data is processed and stored in the UK in an encrypted and secure state.
